Hideki Kamiya says Spider‑Man 2 train scene inspired Okami river sequence
Game director Hideki Kamiya revealed on X that planner Hiroshi Shibata based a timed gameplay segment in the 2006 title Okami on the iconic train‑stopping scene from Sam Raimi’s 2004 film Spider‑Man 2. In Okami, Amaterasu uses her vine power to slow a log racing down a river, a mechanic directly inspired by Spider‑Man’s web‑slowing of a runaway train.
Kamiya also noted other behind‑the‑scenes trivia, such as the naming of Leon S. Kennedy after the 1994 film Léon. The news comes as Okami prepares a sequel, to be produced by Kamiya’s new studio Clovers in partnership with Capcom.
