Hideki Kamiya calls on Xbox CEO to revive Scalebound
Game director Hideki Kamiya has expressed a strong desire to revive Scalebound, an ambitious action RPG that was canceled by Microsoft in 2017. In a recent interview with VGC, Kamiya issued a direct appeal to the new Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, stating that he is “100% serious” about completing the project if the company is willing to revisit it.
Kamiya, who recently helped form the development studio Clovers, noted that Kento Koyama, the president of Clovers, also supports the prospect of a Scalebound revival. While Kamiya has not yet had direct contact with Sharma, he encouraged the leadership to review existing footage of the title.
Scalebound was originally announced in 2014 as an Xbox One exclusive, centered on the relationship between a human protagonist and a dragon. Although the project was officially scrapped nearly a decade ago, Kamiya indicated that he maintains close ties with the original development team and remains motivated to finish the work.
