Sei Young Kim leads FM Championship after first round

Sei Young Kim holds the first-round lead at the LPGA FM Championship with an 8-under 64 at TPC Boston. Kim’s performance was highlighted by a chip-in eagle on the par-5 seventh hole and a six-hole stretch where she went 6-under par. She recorded 24 putts during the round, noting that the course greens felt softer than in previous years.

Trailing Kim by one stroke are Miyu Yamashita and Emily Kristine Pedersen, both at 7-under 65. Yamashita, who recently won the CPKC Women’s Open, recorded 10 birdies but was hampered by a double bogey on the eighth hole. Pedersen, recovering from a wrist injury, also shot a 65.

The tournament features a $4.4 million purse and includes all ten of the world’s top-ranked players. Other notable performances include Somi Lee at 6-under 66, while world No. 1 Nelly Korda opened with an even-par 72.
