Hideo Kojima marks 63rd birthday and reaffirms focus on game development

Renowned video game designer Hideo Kojima is celebrating his 63rd birthday and marking 40 years in the industry. In a recent social media reflection, Kojima noted the increasing tension between his growing list of creative ambitions and the diminishing time available to realize them. Despite these reflections on aging, he reaffirmed his commitment to game development, stating that he intends to remain focused on creating games despite various offers to work in other media.

Kojima Productions is currently working on several high-profile projects, including the spy thriller Physint in collaboration with PlayStation and the horror title OD, developed alongside Xbox Game Studios. The year 2026 will serve as a major milestone, marking both his 40th anniversary in the industry and the 10th anniversary of the founding of Kojima Productions.

To commemorate the studio's tenth anniversary, an exhibition titled ‘Kojipro Exhibition’ is scheduled to take place at the Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo from late October through the end of the year. The studio has also updated the commemorative Ludens statue at its office entrance to mark the occasion.
