Hidetaka Miyazaki reveals inspiration for Zork in The Duskbloods

Hidetaka Miyazaki, director at FromSoftware, has revealed that the character Zork in the upcoming game ‘The Duskbloods’ was inspired by Ultraman and Ultra Seven. Zork is described as a unique, ‘wild card’ character that contrasts the game’s dark fantasy setting.

Zork is depicted as an armor-clad figure in a deep-sea diving suit equipped with a jetpack and a rocket launcher backpack. The character’s design incorporates elements that function similarly to mortars, blending influences from FromSoftware’s ‘Armored Core’ series with the ‘Souls’ format. Miyazaki noted that the character’s concept of monsters rising from the ocean depths was a key part of the initial design notes.
