HIF Global environmental lawsuit reaches judicial inspection stage

Federal Judge Hernán Viri conducted a judicial inspection along the coast of Colón, Argentina, as part of a lawsuit seeking to prevent potential environmental damage. The legal action targets HIF Global and the Republic of Uruguay regarding the proposed installation of a synthetic fuels plant on the Uruguayan side of the Uruguay River.

Accompanied by a designated biological expert and national legislators Guillermo Michel, Marianela Marclay, and Adán Bahl, the judge inspected the area to observe the proximity between the projected industrial site and the local water intake for the city of Colón. The inspection revealed that the plant would be located approximately three kilometers from the city's water source. The proceedings included gathering photographic evidence and establishing coordinates for the project's location to assist the court in its upcoming decision.
