Higüey residents march for specialized oncology center

A march held in Higüey, La Altagracia, has called for the establishment of a specialized oncology center to serve the province. Organized by the groups Mujeres en Conquista del Éxito and the Fundación Un Rostro con la Esperanza, the mobilization aimed to raise awareness about cancer and support affected families.

Proponents of the initiative argue that a local cancer center would reduce the need for patients and their companions to travel long distances to receive consultations and treatments outside their community. The movement emphasizes that while prevention is vital, access to specialists, diagnostic studies, and timely treatments must be prioritized to improve healthcare outcomes in the region.
