High Court rules in favor of EHU regarding Basque language exam grades

The High Court of Justice of the Basque Country (TSJPV) has ruled in favor of the University of the Basque Country (EHU) regarding the inclusion of Basque language grades in the PAU university entrance exams.

The court overturned previous provisional judicial measures that allowed certain students to exclude their Basque language scores from their final results. The ruling stated that provisional judicial resolutions “cannot generate situations of privilege” compared to the rest of the student body.

The controversy began when a group of students who received zero marks in the Basque language portion of the exam sought legal injunctions to prevent those grades from being counted. The TSJPV decision implies that for all other ongoing appeals, the Basque language grade must be taken into account for students who had previously obtained precautionary measures.
