High Court stays no-confidence motion against BFI President Ajay Singh

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) to halt a General Body meeting scheduled for October 28. The meeting was intended to consider a no-confidence motion against BFI President Ajay Singh.

Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya issued the interim direction following a petition by Singh, who challenged the legality of the meeting notice issued on October 8. The petitioner argued that the proceedings violated the BFI constitution, which requires a no-confidence motion to be supported by at least three-fourths of the General Body members at a meeting specifically convened for that purpose. Furthermore, the petition contends that a Special General Meeting can only be called by the President or at the request of two-thirds of the Executive Committee members.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 13. In related developments, World Boxing has emphasized that any national federation meeting must be conducted in strict accordance with the applicable BFI constitution.
