High Courts in Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir issue various legal rulings

The Gujarat High Court has refused to quash a forgery FIR against journalist Ravi Nair. The case was initiated by Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd following a Washington Post article that alleged the Central Government directed LIC to invest in the Adani Group.

In a separate ruling, the Gujarat High Court criticized the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) for using unverified internet sources to set exam questions. The court directed the commission to award marks to a candidate who challenged the accuracy of a question regarding Kautilya's Arthashastra.

In Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the High Court upheld the retirement age of 60 for an Associate Professor at the Islamic University of Science and Technology, ruling that the university's Executive Council decision to exclude constituent college teachers from the age extension to 62 was binding.

The court also ordered an inquiry into administrative lapses after a drug sample failed to reach the Central Drugs Laboratory for eight years, causing it to expire. Additionally, the court ruled that a mother's violation of a foreign court order regarding the relocation of children to India does not disqualify her from seeking custody.
