High-intensity exercise triggers significant changes in blood proteins
A new study indicates that even a few minutes of high-intensity exercise can trigger significant changes in the body. Researchers found that performing six 30-second sprints altered nearly one-quarter of the measured blood proteins and affected more than 200 metabolites, which are substances involved in various metabolic processes.
While these short bursts of intense activity create widespread molecular changes, the study notes that they are not necessarily a direct replacement for 90 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise. Each type of activity produces a distinct physiological response. The findings suggest that the impact of exercise on the body is determined by both intensity and type, rather than just duration.
Experts caution that high-intensity training places greater strain on the cardiovascular system and muscles. Individuals who have been inactive for long periods or have underlying health conditions should consult a medical professional before attempting such intense workouts.
