High-net-worth investors seek rapid communication and integrated planning
Recent research highlights shifting priorities and planning gaps among high-net-worth (HNW) individuals. In Australia, a survey by Praemium and CoreData found that HNW investors have maintained defensive positions due to geopolitical volatility. Over 80% of these investors adjusted their portfolios in response to geopolitical developments over the past year, with many seeking rapid communication from advisers during market instability. Satisfaction was highest among clients who received responses within 24 hours of significant market events.
Separately, research from Manulife and FT Longitude involving 1,000 individuals across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East indicates that longer lifespans are creating a need for more fluid wealth planning. As HNW individuals move toward “portfolio lives” involving multiple phases of work and reinvention, only 17% currently possess an integrated wealth plan that connects investments, protection, and succession. Many expect to remain active well beyond traditional retirement ages, with 27% intending to work for as long as possible.
