High repair costs for engine and electric vehicle battery failures
Vehicle owners face significant financial risks due to major mechanical and electrical failures. Serious engine damage, such as seizure caused by improper lubrication or timing belt issues, can result in repair bills reaching 25,000 PLN.
In the electric vehicle sector, battery degradation presents a similar economic challenge. For a 12-year-old Smart Electric Drive with over 300,000 km, replacing the entire battery pack was estimated at approximately 17,000 EUR (75,000 PLN), which exceeded the vehicle's market value. However, specialized workshops, such as EV Clinic in Berlin, offer alternatives by replacing only damaged cells. In one instance, replacing three cells cost 900 EUR and restored approximately 20 percent of the vehicle's range.
