High school boys soccer: Leland & Gray wins opener, Yarmouth and Greely tie

In recent high school boys soccer matchups, Leland & Gray secured a 2-1 victory over Springfield in its regular season home opener. Senior Lucas Gleason led the Rebels with two goals, including the decisive strike just 26 seconds into the first overtime period. Junior goalkeeper Frank Flood contributed significantly to the win with 15 saves.

In a separate Western Maine Conference rivalry game, Yarmouth and Greely played to a 1-1 draw. After a defensive first half, Greely took the lead late in regulation via a Gavin Byrne free kick, but Yarmouth responded with a tying goal from Lucas Hayner in the final minutes. The match remained deadlocked through 10 minutes of overtime.
