High school girls' field hockey teams compete in early season matchups

High school girls' varsity field hockey teams have begun their 2026 seasons with notable performances.

In East Hampton, the home opener resulted in a 3-2 loss against Southampton. Despite the defeat, sophomore players led the scoring for East Hampton, including a first-quarter goal by Kiana Dias and a late fourth-quarter goal by Ashlyn O’Donnell. Head coach Danielle Schuster noted the team's strong teamwork and the influence of younger players following the departure of 13 seniors last year.

In another matchup, Cherry Hill East secured a 7-0 victory over Overbrook High School. Freshman Chloe Park contributed two goals and two assists, while sophomore Lecia Stanko scored once. The win was supported by a shutout from senior goalkeeper Rory Lombardi, bringing the Cougars' season record to 2-1.
