High School Quiz 2026 details announced by Nippon TV

Nippon TV has announced the details for the 46th annual ‘High School Quiz’ competition, scheduled to broadcast on September 21. The tournament features teams from 5,989 high schools across Japan competing for the top title.

The competition will span multiple locations, beginning at Yokohama Stadium with a ‘Video Three-Choice Base Run.’ Subsequent stages include a ‘Muddy OX Quiz’ at Odawara Castle and a ‘Bond Relay’ at Shikisai-no-oka in Hokkaido. The final round will take place at Awashima, overlooking Mount Fuji.

The 2026 theme focuses on ‘Bonds with Peers,’ testing students' intellect, physical stamina, and teamwork. The quiz questions will center on the theme ‘100 Years of Japan: Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa.’

Program personalities include members of the group SixTONES (Shintaro Morimoto and Juri Tanaka), Chocolate Planet, and Shiori Sato. A special collaboration stage featuring ‘Golden SixTONES’ will be included in the losers' revival round.
