High school sports playoffs approach in Maine and Ohio

The 2026 high school sports regular seasons are concluding in Maine and Ohio, setting the stage for upcoming postseason tournaments.

In Maine, field hockey playoffs are scheduled to begin on October 23. The Class A North standings feature Mt. Ararat with a 14-0-0 record, while Class B North is led by Nokomis and Leavitt, both at 13-1-0. In Class C North, Foxcroft Academy holds an undefeated 14-0-0 record. The state championships are slated for November 7 at Edward Little High School.

In Ohio, high school football enters Week 10 with playoff berths and conference titles at stake. A marquee matchup features McDonald (8-1) against Mineral Ridge (9-0), with Mineral Ridge seeking its first undefeated season since 1985. Additionally, Girard aims to extend its regular-season winning streak to 22 games as it prepares to host Niles.
