Wayne-Finger Lakes and Section V high school sports season begins

The fall sports season for the Wayne-Finger Lakes and Section V high school athletic programs has commenced. Recent match results include a 3-2 victory for Palmyra-Macedon over Mynderse in boys soccer, where Elijah Doell scored twice for Mynderse. Other notable scores include a double-overtime draw between Penn Yan and Geneva, and a 1-0 win for Waterloo over Midlakes/Red Jacket.

In girls' sports, Bloomfield defeated Williamson 2-1 in soccer, and Gananda/Marion secured a 1-0 win against Charles G. Finney. In volleyball, Clyde-Savannah won against Geneva in straight sets. Girls' tennis saw victories for Midlakes over Mynderse and Canandaigua over Irondequoit.

Looking ahead to the Monroe County Division I boys' soccer season, several programs are preparing for their opening matches. Returning contenders include the Fairport Red Raiders, the previous year's Monroe County Division League I Champions, and the Hilton Cadets. Other featured programs include Penfield, Victor, and Rush-Henrietta.
