High School Volleyball: Yonezawa Chuo Wins 7th Consecutive Title

Yonezawa Chuo High School's girls' volleyball team secured a historic seventh consecutive victory in the Yamagata Prefecture Spring High Volleyball tournament. The team defeated Yamagata Gakuin with a straight set score of 3-0 to maintain their undefeated streak in regional competitions.

Utilizing their significant height advantage, with an average starting lineup height of 173.7 cm, Yonezawa Chuo dominated through effective blocking and diverse offensive plays. Key contributors included setter Aruru Kato, captain Kanae Wada, and second-year ace Kojima. The team now prepares for the national tournament in Tokyo, starting January 4, 2027, with the goal of reaching the top eight and ultimately winning the national championship.

In a separate regional development, the Kochi High School boys' volleyball team is preparing for the upcoming prefecture qualifiers starting October 31. After losing in the finals for two consecutive years, the team aims to use their combination play, led by setter Takuma Yamamoto and first-year ace Kyo Iuchi, to secure a spot in the national tournament.
