High-Tech Gründerfonds launches fundraising for fifth seed fund

The High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) has launched fundraising for its fifth seed fund, HTGF V. The initiative aims to mobilize both public anchor investors and private capital from industry and medium-sized enterprises to finance technological innovations in Germany and Europe.

The fund will focus on sectors including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, life sciences, deep tech, and digital technology. The goal is to transform scientific developments into marketable products and scale them into global tech champions. HTGF V is part of the German federal government's start-up and scale-up strategy, supported by funds from the ERP special assets.

HTGF typically acts as a first-check investor, providing between 1 and 3 million EUR to young technology companies. Since 2005, the organization has financed more than 800 tech start-ups, facilitated over 200 successful exits, and helped produce five unicorns. The first closing for HTGF V is planned for mid-2027.
