Higher Camping Fees on Croatia’s Lošinj Island Drive German Tourists Elsewhere

German campers are voicing frustration over rising costs on Croatia’s island Lošinj, noting campsite fees that can exceed €50 in September compared with €28 on the French Riviera, and restaurant meals for two people approaching €50.

The Lošinj tourism board says that, despite earlier price adjustments linked to an inflation rate of about 4.4% in the first half of the year, prices have largely stabilised this season and bookings have not declined. Tourism minister Tonči Glavina warned that travel has never been this expensive.

Germany’s Federal Statistical Office reports that roughly one in five Germans cannot afford a week‑long holiday, underscoring broader affordability concerns.
