Higher education developments in Senegal and Chad

Senegal's Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation participated in a board meeting for the Partnership for Advanced Skills in Science, Engineering and Technology (PASET). The ministry stated that Senegal's involvement aims to monitor cooperation efforts focused on strengthening human capacities in strategic scientific and technological fields.

In Chad, Professor Khadija Hassaballah Hamid, Rector of the Southeast Academy, visited the University of Sarh and the National Higher School of Information and Communication Technologies (ENASTIC). The visit sought to evaluate operating conditions and address academic challenges.

The President of the University of Sarh, Professor Ngarasta Ngarkodji, reported significant financial difficulties. Despite having 4,158 enrolled students for the 2025-2026 academic year, the institution faces insufficient subsidies to cover salaries and operational costs. The university currently faces approximately 400 million CFA francs in debts related to teaching assignments and missions.
