Higher education institutions in Los Angeles expand student support and flexibility
California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) and Alliance College-Ready Public Schools have entered a formal partnership to improve university graduation rates for charter school graduates. The agreement, signed by Cal State LA President Berenecea Johnson Eanes and Alliance Executive Director Pablo Villavicencio, focuses on using data sharing to track student progress from enrollment through graduation.
Through the Student Success Data Collaborative, the institutions will monitor academic progress and first-year experiences to identify potential difficulties early. Support measures may include summer programs, academic writing assistance, and mentorship to help students navigate the transition from high school to higher education.
Separately, National University in Los Angeles has announced an expanded focus on flexible degree pathways tailored for working adults. The institution is offering various associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in fields such as healthcare, business, and technology, designed to accommodate students balancing professional and family responsibilities.
