Higher education institutions launch new professional integration initiatives

Educational institutions in Albania and North Macedonia are implementing new strategic initiatives to bridge the gap between academic study and professional employment.

In Elbasan, the Aleksandër Xhuvani University has launched the ‘UNIEL Pact for Practice and Employment’ for the 2026–2027 academic year. Rector Elvira Fetahu stated the goal is to move from a classical university-auditor model toward an open university that collaborates with businesses, hospitals, and technology companies to provide students with practical experience and professional competencies before graduation.

In Tirana, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has signed a cooperation agreement with the Agricultural University of Tirana. Minister Andis Salla noted that the partnership aims to connect students with the labor market through professional internships and information regarding vacancies within the Ministry. The agreement also focuses on academic and scientific collaboration in fields such as veterinary medicine, food safety, and biotechnology.
