Higher education institutions prepare for 2026/27 academic year

The 2026/27 academic year is approaching for higher education institutions in the region. UBT has announced its readiness to welcome students, with Rector Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi offering support to new students as they begin their professional development. UBT will host an Information Week from October 5 to October 9 to orient students regarding programs and services, with formal classes scheduled to begin on October 12.

In broader regional developments, Arjan Xhelaj, director of the Albanian academic network, reported that over 20,000 students have registered for the upcoming term. While high-demand fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, and Informatics are nearing full capacity, vacancies remain in programs like Economics, Law, and Social and Political Sciences. Universities may reorganize or shorten curricula for programs that have historically seen low enrollment numbers.
