Highgate School pupil dies in North London vehicle collision

A 16-year-old Year 12 pupil from Highgate School died on Thursday morning after being struck by an Addison Lee private hire vehicle in north London. The collision occurred on North Road in Highgate at approximately 8:00 am while the teenager was traveling to school.

Emergency services, including paramedics, the London Fire Brigade, and an air ambulance, attended the scene. Despite medical efforts, the girl was pronounced dead at the location. The Metropolitan Police have cordoned off the area and requested that the public avoid Highgate while investigations continue.

A 68-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. Highgate School expressed deep sadness over the loss, describing the incident as a “terrible shock” to the school community. Addison Lee confirmed the vehicle involved belonged to its fleet and stated it is fully supporting the police investigation.
