Highland Mills man charged in violent New Windsor domestic attack

A 41-year-old Highland Mills man, identified as Bryan Arrao, has been arrested following a violent domestic attack in New Windsor on August 6, 2026. Police responded to a residence on Chestnut Street after receiving reports of a physical domestic incident.

The victim, a female, reported that her ex-boyfriend broke into her home and attacked her. She was transported to Montefiore-St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Following an investigation involving New Windsor Detectives and several surrounding agencies, Arrao was located and stopped by New York State Police on Interstate 84.

Arrao faces multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary, second-degree strangulation, third-degree criminal mischief, and endangering the welfare of a child. He has been remanded to the Orange County Jail.
