Highland producers in Vietnam adopt technology to boost agricultural products

Agricultural producers in Vietnam's highland regions, specifically in Lai Châu province, are transitioning from traditional subsistence farming to commercialized production through technology and innovation.

In Lũng Phìn, the traditional craft of making incense using natural wood powder and herbs is being developed into a specialized local product. The ‘Lũng Phìn Incense’ brand has been integrated into Tuyên Quang province's traceability system to ensure quality. While providing significant supplemental income for families, the craft faces challenges such as water shortages during the dry season and the need for better infrastructure and technical training.

In other parts of Lai Châu, businesses and cooperatives are applying digital transformation and modern machinery to products like Tân Uyên tea, Lai Châu ginseng, and Cordyceps. Companies such as the Trà Than Uyên Joint Stock Company are investing in new processing lines to meet the standards of demanding international markets, shifting the focus from mere production to building strong brands and market competitiveness.
