Highreso connects Takamatsu AI data center to SINET6 academic network
Highreso has announced the connection of its Takamatsu City Data Center to SINET6, the academic information network operated by the National Institute of Informatics (NII). This integration, scheduled for September 2026, utilizes NTT Group’s IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network) technology, specifically the All-Photonics Network (APN) architecture.
The initiative aims to provide universities and research institutions across Japan with high-speed, high-capacity, and low-latency access to GPU computing resources. This infrastructure is intended to support the growing demand for computational power driven by advancements in generative AI, large language models (LLM), and deep learning research.
The Takamatsu City Data Center, which opened in December 2024, is the first GPU-dedicated facility in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions. It represents an investment of approximately 10 billion yen and provides ultra-high-end GPU capabilities to foster AI innovation and academic research in Japan.
