Highway blockades in Puebla fail to improve security

Recent highway blockades organized by the transport union Amotac across the Mexico-Puebla, Orizaba, Tlaxcala, and Atlixco routes have failed to increase the effectiveness of police forces. Instead, the protests disrupted daily life for hundreds of thousands of people and negatively impacted economic productivity by blocking factory logistics and the transport of goods, passengers, and patients.

Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta acknowledged the pain caused by crimes against transporters but emphasized that authorities are working to improve security. Critics argue that such deliberate blockades do not solve insecurity and instead cause widespread social and economic harm.
