Hiker dies in 60-meter fall on Pyramidenspitze, Tyrol

A hiker died following a fatal fall on the Pyramidenspitze in the Zahmen Kaiser mountain range in Tyrol, Austria. The incident occurred on Sunday morning around 11:20 a.m. near Walchsee.

According to police reports, the unidentified man was descending from the summit toward Winkelkar when he fell approximately 60 meters over steep rocky terrain at an altitude of about 1,760 meters. The route is described as demanding, featuring sections secured with steel cables that require steady footing.

Witnesses observed the fall and immediately contacted emergency services. Although a medical helicopter arrived, emergency doctors could only confirm the man's death at the scene. The body was recovered by alpine police and a police helicopter. The Innsbruck Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy, and investigations into the exact cause of the accident and the identity of the deceased are ongoing.
