Hiking and educational excursions reported in Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna
Various hiking and educational activities have been highlighted across Italian mountain regions. In the Abruzzo region, excursions to Monte Meta offer visitors the chance to observe deer rutting rituals in the Conca dei Biscurri. The area features the Passo dei Monaci and the ruins of the Blockhaus, a former military structure used to combat brigandage in the late 19th century. To protect local species, the Park Authority has implemented tourist flow regulations, including limited access to valley trails from late July to mid-September.
In the Emilia-Romagna region, the Ente Parchi Emilia Centrale reported that over 500 hikers participated in the ‘Sentiero dell’Atmosfera’ last summer. This educational project allows participants to visit the Monte Cimone climate and meteorological observatory, managed by the CNR and the Air Force Mountain Aeronautics Center. The next scheduled iteration of this program is set for July 2027.
