Hiking initiatives expand in Tenerife and San Rafael
New hiking opportunities are being introduced in both Tenerife and San Rafael to promote outdoor sports and nature tourism.
In Tenerife, the IX Master Games are concluding its season with two final routes scheduled for November. The first, a medium-low difficulty walk along the Arico Coast, begins in Tajao and ends in Abades, featuring volcanic landscapes. The second route, titled “Silba, silba, laurisilva,” will take participants through the Anaga Rural Park on November 29. This circular path is designed for all skill levels and focuses on the local flora and fauna of the laurisilva forest.
In San Rafael, the municipality is developing the first three formally demarcated and signposted trails at Cerro Victoria in the Valle Grande area. The project includes informative signage and QR codes providing details on distance, duration, and safety. This initiative is a collaboration between the San Rafael Tourism Directorate, the El Sosneado Andean Club, and the Argentine Mountaineering Federation. Additionally, San Rafael is hosting a national training program for trail demarcation, drawing participants from provinces such as Jujuy, Tierra del Fuego, and San Luis.
