Hilaire and Laura Damiron win Carrera Panamericana 2026
The Franco-Brazilian duo Hilaire and Laura Damiron secured their third absolute championship at the 39th edition of the Carrera Panamericana. Driving their 1954 Studebaker Commander, known as ‘El Commander’, the pair maintained a consistent lead throughout the seven-day race, which spanned approximately 4,000 kilometers across eight Mexican states, starting in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, and concluding in Zacatecas.
The competition was marked by a significant shift in the standings following the withdrawal of seven-time winner Ricardo Cordero, whose vehicle, ‘El Malditillo’, suffered an engine failure during an earlier stage.
The final podium featured Emilio Velázquez and Javier Marín in second place, followed by Jorge Pedrero and Sergio Contreras in third. The event, which saw vehicles reaching speeds of over 250 km/h, concluded with a celebration in front of the Basilica Cathedral in Zacatecas.
