Hilarry Sedu to receive “Ho l’Africa nel Cuore” award in Fano

Hilarry Sedu, a lawyer practicing in Naples, will receive the “Ho l’Africa nel Cuore” award during the XXIX Settimana Africana Regionale. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 2, at the Church of Santa Maria del Gonfalone in Fano.

Sedu, who moved from Nigeria to Italy as an infant, transitioned from a promising football career—interrupted by a knee injury—to studying law at the University of Naples Federico II. He currently focuses his legal practice on protecting the rights of migrants and vulnerable populations, advocating for citizenship, equality, and legal access.

The award, presented by the organization L’Africa Chiama, recognizes individuals who contribute to building a more just and pluralistic society. This year’s selection aligns with the organization’s 25th-anniversary theme, “Dalla parte dei diritti” (On the side of rights).
