Hildasay Island in Scotland is for sale for €414,000

Hildasay, an uninhabited island located off the west coast of the Shetland Islands, is currently for sale for approximately £350,000 (around €414,000). The 110-hectare property features a rugged coastline, two freshwater lakes, and a rich variety of birdlife.

Access to the island is available exclusively by boat via a private pier. The property includes a traditional stone bothy, which offers basic living quarters with a solid fuel stove, an elevated sleeping area, and a separate bathroom. As the island is not connected to the public electricity grid, potential buyers will need to implement their own power solutions, such as wind turbines or diesel generators.

The island has gained increased attention following the publication of ‘Finding Hildasay’ by Chris Lewis, which details his experience living on the island. While the property offers a complete retreat from modern connectivity, any significant modernizations or expansions would require official building permits and regulatory approvals.
