Hildon Chaves proposes new emergency hospital for Rondônia

Hildon Chaves, a candidate for the governorship of Rondônia, has proposed the construction of a new emergency and urgent care hospital to be completed within two and a half years. The project aims to alleviate pressure on the Hospital de Base João Paulo II.

Chaves is basing his healthcare platform on his management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Porto Velho. During that period, he expanded the municipal hospital capacity from 23 to 73 beds and increased ventilator availability from 5 to 23. His campaign emphasizes proactive infrastructure planning to avoid reactive crisis management.

In addition to healthcare, Chaves is campaigning in the state's interior, including Ji-Paraná, Pimenta Bueno, and Espigão do Oeste, where he has also committed to paving critical sections of highways to support local municipalities and the agribusiness sector.
