Hildon Chaves signs Education Pact for Rondônia

Hildon Chaves, the former mayor of Porto Velho and a candidate for Governor of Rondônia, has signed the ‘Pacto pela Educação em Rondônia’ (Education Pact in Rondônia). The agreement, promoted by the Gabinete de Articulação para a Efetividade da Política da Educação em Rondônia (GAEC), formalizes his commitment to educational policies for the 2027–2030 period.

Chaves highlighted his administration's success in Porto Velho, noting that the percentage of children literacy at the appropriate age rose from 30% to 95% by 2024. This achievement earned the city the ‘Selo Ouro Nacional do Compromisso com a Alfabetização’ from the Ministry of Education.

As part of his government plan, Chaves intends to expand these literacy programs across the entire state through partnerships with municipalities. His proposal includes efforts to reduce school dropout rates, address age-grade distortion, expand full-time education, and provide pedagogical and psychosocial support to students.
