Hillhouse Group appoints Zander Calderwood to lead new Edinburgh asphalt plant

Hillhouse Group has promoted Zander Calderwood to oversee operations for its upcoming Edinburgh asphalt facility at the Soutra Mains Quarry in Midlothian, slated to begin production later this year. Calderwood, who joined the company in 2013 as an asphalt plant supervisor at Cambuslang, later led the development of the Alloa plant and now manages production across five asphalt sites, including Troon, Cambuslang, Alloa and the new Edinburgh operation. He said the new plant will enhance relationships with existing customers and support projects across Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders, offering greater flexibility for the east of Scotland.

Mark Munro, managing director of Hillhouse Quarry, praised Calderwood’s technical knowledge and customer focus, noting the importance of experienced leadership as the Edinburgh facility moves toward commissioning and opening.
