Hilmi Tuna Kuriş and Erhan Yılmaz apprehended in Marmaris escape attempt
Police in Marmaris, Muğla, have apprehended Hilmi Tuna Kuriş and Erhan Yılmaz, fugitives linked to the Alihan Kuriş criminal organization, as they were preparing to flee the country. The operation revealed that the suspects were being transported in a luxury vehicle, license plate 34 SL 313, which is officially allocated to former Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin until 2030.
Investigations into the escape attempt showed that the driver, Mehmet Özmen, attempted to evade detection by turning off his mobile phone during the journey from Istanbul to Muğla. During searches, authorities seized 58,000 euros from the vehicle and later discovered 206 kilograms of gold during searches related to Hilmi Tuna Kuriş. Additionally, Yasin Kaya was arrested for harboring a criminal.
İdris Naim Şahin issued a statement clarifying that the vehicle was rented for his use in Istanbul and was used by the rental company's owner, Mehmet Özmen, without his knowledge or permission. Şahin has filed a criminal complaint against Özmen and requested the removal of the vehicle's official protection status.
