Hilton 2027 Trends Report reveals shift toward flexible travel
Hilton’s 2027 Trends Report, titled ‘The Great Rebalance: How Travelers Are Expecting to Reset and Recalibrate in 2027’, identifies a major shift in global travel behavior. Based on research involving over 14,000 travelers across 14 countries in partnership with Morning Consult, the report suggests that travelers are moving away from the pursuit of ‘perfect’ vacations toward more flexible, meaningful, and personal experiences.
Key trends include the rise of ‘perfect-ish’ travel, where 54% of respondents feel pressure to plan ideal trips but are increasingly embracing spontaneity. The report also highlights ‘solo-ish’ travel, noting that 31% of travelers go solo to connect with friends or family at their destination. Additionally, there is a growing focus on wellness, personal growth, and ‘micro-travel’.
In terms of technology and trust, the findings indicate that while AI is used for planning, human expertise remains highly valued. Approximately 70% of travelers consider hotel staff to be reliable sources of information. Hilton CEO Chris Nassetta noted that travelers are seeking experiences that fit their lives and provide lasting value long after their trips conclude.
