Hilton report identifies emerging travel trends for 2027
A new report titled ‘The Great Rebalance’, produced by Hilton in collaboration with Morning Consult, outlines shifting consumer behaviors in the travel industry heading toward 2027. Based on a survey of over 14,000 travelers across 14 countries, the research highlights a move toward greater personal autonomy and meaningful experiences.
Key trends include the rise of ‘ish’ travel, characterized by a preference for flexibility and improvisation over rigid, pre-planned itineraries. The report notes that 28% of respondents prefer leaving room for spontaneity, while 54% feel pressure to ensure a vacation is perfect.
Additionally, there is a growing demand for tourism with social impact and cultural reconciliation. Travelers are increasingly seeking authentic connections with local communities through volunteering, educational projects, and initiatives that support economic and cultural sustainability. This shift positions travel as a tool for dialogue and positive community engagement rather than just a means of escape.
