India launches Har Ghar Tiranga campaign for 80th Independence Day
India has launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, running from August 9 to August 17, to mark the nation's 80th Independence Day. The initiative, overseen by the Ministry of Culture, encourages citizens and the Indian diaspora to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ initiative by uploading photos to the official portal, harghartiranga.com, to receive digital certificates.
This year's campaign is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for widespread public participation, describing the Tricolour as a source of pride and motivation for building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Across various states, political leaders and citizens have organized ‘Tiranga Yatras’ (flag marches) and distribution drives. Notable activities include large-scale rallies in Delhi, Patna, Bhopal, and Gandhinagar, as well as flag distribution in Tripura and two-wheeler rallies in Nagaland. The campaign aims to foster patriotism and educate the younger generation about the significance of the national flag.
