Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Announces Relief Package for Cloudburst Victims in Boh

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the cloudburst‑hit town of Boh in Himachal Pradesh's Shahpur constituency to assess damage and launch a relief effort. He announced a package that provides families whose homes were destroyed with ₹7.5 million for reconstruction and an additional ₹1 million for essential items, along with government land where needed. Livestock losses will be compensated at ₹55,000 per cow or buffalo and ₹15,000 per goat. Crop damage will be paid at ₹5,000 per kanal, shop owners will receive ₹50,000‑₹1 million depending on loss, and families forced into rental accommodation will get ₹5,000 per month. All affected households are also to receive six months of free rations. The chief minister also ordered the upgrade of the Ridkmar Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre.

State officials reported that the 2023‑24 disaster season saw more than 23,000 houses damaged across Himachal, about 500 fatalities and the rescue of over 75,000 people, a response praised by NITI Aayog and the World Bank.
