Himachal Pradesh Assembly monsoon session to begin August 21

The 14th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin its 10-sitting monsoon session on Friday, August 21, 2026. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announced that the session will run until September 3.

Legislators have submitted over 1,000 question-related notices online, including starred and unstarred questions. Key topics expected to be debated include central assistance for disaster relief, infrastructure damage from floods and heavy rainfall, road and bridge construction, and vacancies in health and educational institutions. Other issues on the agenda include tourism, horticulture, drug abuse, and crime.

To ensure accountability, an Assurance Committee will be established under the Speaker to monitor government compliance with promises made on the House floor. The session will also include a tribute to deceased former MLAs Vijender Singh and Ram Chand Bhatia, and a designated Private Members' Day on August 27.
