Himachal Pradesh announces 5% Dearness Allowance hike

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners ahead of the Diwali festival. The hike includes a 4% additional allowance along with the release of 1% in previous arrears.

In a specific measure for Class-4 employees, the state government will provide an additional ₹10,000 in pay revision arrears alongside the 5% DA increase. The funds are scheduled to be deposited into employees' bank accounts on the first of the month.

Separately, discussions regarding potential Dearness Allowance increases for central government employees in India suggest that a move from 60% to 63% could result in a monthly increase of ₹540 for an employee with a basic salary of ₹18,000.
