Himachal Pradesh Police urge NIT Hamirpur students to join anti-drug campaign
Himachal Pradesh Police officials visited NIT Hamirpur to encourage students to participate in the ‘Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan’, a drug prevention movement led by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.
During the interaction at the institute's auditorium, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tewari emphasized that the campaign, launched on November 15, 2025, is intended to be a people-led movement rather than solely a government or police initiative. He urged undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students to become active partners in the state’s fight against ‘chitta’ (synthetic drugs).
Lady Constable Nikita addressed the students, advising them to protect themselves and support peers struggling with addiction without stigmatization, while also stressing the importance of reporting drug traffickers to law enforcement.
