Himachal Pradesh proposes AIIMS Ayurveda institute in Hamirpur

Himachal Pradesh is among the top five states being considered by the Central Government for the establishment of an AIIMS Ayurveda institute. AYUSH Minister Yadvinder Goma announced that the state has completed the necessary formalities and is awaiting final approval from the Government of India.

The state government has approved approximately 70 acres of land at Dhaneta in the Nadaun area of Hamirpur district for the project. The total cost of the institute is estimated at around Rs 1,000 crore, with the state Cabinet already granting approval for approximately Rs 300 crore.

The initiative aims to promote traditional medicine and strengthen AYUSH-based healthcare by integrating Ayurvedic disciplines with quality healthcare services. The announcement was made during a state-level function in Shimla marking the 11th National Ayurveda Day.
