Himachal Pradesh receives 98,719 applications for police constable roles
The Himachal Pradesh government has received 98,719 applications for 1,088 male and female police constable positions. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced during the monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly that the application deadline will not be extended further.
The recruitment process, managed by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), began with an initial deadline of August 6, which saw approximately 65,000 applicants. Following a one-year age relaxation for all candidates, the deadline was extended to August 21, bringing the total to 77,000. A subsequent extension to September 15 was granted alongside a five-year age relaxation specifically for Himachal Pradesh government employees.
The HPPSC stated that no further extensions will be granted to avoid disrupting the schedule for physical tests and the overall recruitment timeline. The Commission also dismissed claims of technical issues with the online application portal, asserting that the system functioned efficiently.
