Himachal Pradesh University: Seven arrested after weapons found during student clash

Tensions rose at Himachal Pradesh University following a violent clash between members of the Student Federation of India (SFI) and other students in the Law Department. Following the confrontation, students gathered near the Vice Chancellor’s office, prompting security personnel and police to conduct bag inspections.

During the search, police recovered sharp weapons from the bags of several student leaders. While some students claimed the weapons belonged to others, authorities stated that the individuals failed to provide satisfactory explanations during questioning.

Seven individuals were arrested for allegedly obstructing police duties. The arrested individuals include students from Mandi, Sirmaur, Chamba, Shimla, and Kullu districts. Police are currently investigating the motives behind the possession of the weapons and the circumstances leading to the clash.
